Texas FFA Steps Up for Cowtown C.A.L.F

Every year at the Texas FFA Convention, members come together to support a service project that gives back to the local community. This year's project, "Helping Every Single Step Feel Like Home," partnered with the Cowtown Marathon and its C.A.L.F. Program.
Created in 2009 as part of the Cowtown Marathon's mission, C.A.L.F. promotes a lifelong love of fitness by helping tens of thousands of children from area school districts and community centers lace up and start crossing finish lines.
“The FFA groups are amazing,” said Seth Fossett Cowtown C.A.L.F. Warehouse Manager. “I used to be an FFA kid myself 10 years ago, so whenever this opportunity came up, I was jumping at the bit.”
Throughout the week of convention, chapters were encouraged to bring new running shoes and socks to help support children in the Fort Worth area.
"Because of their efforts, we received an amazing donation of 200 pairs of running shoes and 2,850 pairs of socks," said Heidi Swartz Cowtown C.A.L.F. Executive Director. "This contribution will make a tremendous difference for the children we serve throughout North Texas."
Service projects like this one truly capture what the FFA motto, "Living to Serve," is all about.
“FFA kids are great, and everyone contributing to our cause and helping out is just phenomenal,” said Fossett. "We get to go out there, light up kids faces, and give them something they really appreciate and can use."
