The 22nd Annual Texas FFA Rodeo took place at the Fort Worth Cowtown Coliseum to kick off an exciting week for members attending the 98th Annual Texas FFA Convention.
“My most memorable rodeo moment was the first time I ever ran,” said Decatur FFA member Emanuely Vieira. “[And] I look up to my dad because he is a big inspiration to me.”

Vieira competed in barrel racing during the Long Go on Monday and Tuesday.
“I got the opportunity because my parents have encouraged me,” said Vieira. “[But] the hardest part is focusing and believing in myself.”
For Decatur FFA member Kassidy Sessions, her rodeo journey began with her older brother. Sessions also competed in barrel racing during the Long Go on Monday and Tuesday.

“I’ve done barrel racing for nine years,” said Sessions. “My older brother used to watch PBR, and we just got into rodeo from there.”
For many members, competing in the Cowtown Coliseum is a surreal experience. Having hosted generations of rodeo competitors, it is considered one of the sport's most iconic venues.

“It means a lot [to compete] in the Coliseum because a lot of talent has been through that arena,” said Vieira.
While barrel racing was the largest division, members also competed in team roping, goat tying, and tie-down roping.
