Save Water, Save Texas

Join Pilot Point FFA and Save Water. Approximately 1,000 people are moving into Texas each day. This is creating a much higher demand for water than what is in supply. Texans continue to waste water that is desperately needed for life.
“Texas has been prone to cycles of drought for centuries, and there is no reason to expect that basic pattern to change,” said Texas Comptroller, Susan Combs. “Yet our state has changed, and its booming population and economy are creating an increasingly unquenchable demand for water.”
Reasons to Conserve:
1. Save the environment
2. Save energy
3. Save money
10 simple ways to conserve water at home:
1. Wash your dark clothes in cold water.
2. Use drip irrigation to water trees, bushes etc.
3. Put dishes in the dishwasher instead of washing them by hand.
4. Turn off the faucet completely after each use.
5. Drop tissues in the trash instead of flushing them.
6. Wash your pets on the lawn to give your grass a nice drink.
7. Don’t pour dirty water down the drain, use it to water your plants.
8. Try to shorten your showers to under 5 minutes, this alone can save 1,000 gallons per month.
9. Keep a pitcher of water in the fridge instead of drinking tap.
10. Designate one bottle to drink from to cut down on dish washing.
Take the Pledge:
1. Pray for rain
2. Take 5 steps to conserve water
3. Encourage 3 other people to take the pledge
4. Place the blue ribbon found on the Blue Ribbon Water Project Facebook page in a visible place to spread the word.
