Pottsboro Member Devises an Innovative Livestock Feeder
Tuesday, May 15, 2018 | Author: Bianca Calderon, Texas FFA News Staff

Pottsboro FFA member Morgan McCullough devised an innovative hanging livestock feeder design concept while exhibiting and raising swine. She eventually turned the idea into a successful business called M2 Feeders.

Her original design idea stemmed from frustration and issues with traditional pig feeders.

“Through research, I found buckets with curved bottoms and edges were more ideal because it would hold more feed, allowing pigs to clean out the bottom of the feeder easily and avoid cuts and scrapes from the traditional feed buckets,” said McCullough.

Eventually, her Supervised Agriculture Experience expanded to include entrepreneurship sales.

“This business has taught me time management skills, responsibility, and that I must be dedicated to my project,” said McCullough.

In addition to irreplaceable business experience, McCullough was recognized as the 2017 Texas FFA proficiency winner in Agricultural Sales Entrepreneurship.

Growing her SAE project into a business has allowed her to be confident in her future academic endeavors. McCullough will be attending Texas Tech University in the fall where she will put her learned skills to the test and pursue a career in the agriculture industry.
