Thousands of smiling faces filled the arena as members from across the state convened in Fort Worth, Texas, to attend the first general session of the 91st Annual Texas FFA Convention.
The state officer team opened the session on July 16 by sharing their darkest doubts and fears before introducing this year’s theme—Illuminate.
“We all have a light inside of us brighter than any darkness. We can serve others by leading with our light,” said Texas FFA Vice President Camille Bell. “By doing this we experience a heart and mind change to illuminate the world.”
The session also featured messages from Congressman Roger Williams, two Oklahoma FFA officers and a keynote address from speaker and drummer Clint Pulver.
It has been said that Pulver has inspired millions by his story and has dedicated his heart into pouring into today’s youth so that we can pour into others.
“It’s not about being the best in the world. It’s about being the best for the world,” said Pulver.
First Vice President Preston Cummings concluded the session with an emotional retiring address about living authentically and owning your story. However, it is State President Cory Sinkule’s message that will linger with members throughout the week.
“In front of you lies a life changing week. I encourage you to be present in each moment, seek growth, and bring a positive light to this convention,” Sinkule said. “Texas FFA, let’s illuminate!”
