Members from across the state convened in Corpus Christi, Texas to attend the first general session of the 89th Annual Texas FFA Convention on July 11, 2017. The large event is held annually to celebrate student success and conduct official Association business.
As the first general session commenced, more than 12,000 members and guests were introduced to this year’s theme – Relentless: Persue Your Passion.

“We are called to be relentless in pursuing our passion, but it takes a special person to answer this calling: someone who is passionate about their beliefs and never gives up on their goals,” said Creager Davis, 2016-2017 Texas FFA Vice President.
The session featured guest speakers such as two Oklahoma FFA Association officers, the Mayor of Corpus Christi Joe McComb, as well as keynote speaker and decorated veteran Keni Thomas.

Whether you are a member, advisor, sponsor, or guest; the opening session left an inspiring impression that kicked-off this year’s convention.
“You have in front of you a life changing week of celebration, acknowledgment, and inspiration,” said Jake Traylor, 2016-2017 Texas FFA President. “Be present in each moment, seek growth, and get ready to experience a week dedicated to pursuing your passion.”
