Lampasas FFA Celebrates National FFA Week
Friday, March 1, 2013 | Author: Texas FFA

The Lampasas FFA chapter participated in several activities in conjunction with the 2013 National FFA Week program, which gives members a chance to educate the public about agriculture. The week of George Washington’s birthday was designated as National FFA Week in 1947 at a National FFA Board of Directors meeting. FFA Week always runs from Saturday to Saturday, and encompasses February 22, Washington’s birthday.

Lampasas FFA chairpersons Hunter Webb and Morgan Misserian coordinated the weekly events beginning on Monday, Feb. 18. Events included: camo day, blue and gold day, a FFA potluck meal at the Agriscience building and assisting with the Lampasas Library’s Boots and Books Gala.  In addition, the members of Lampasas FFA also made announcements each day about what the FFA means to them and set up donation boxes to help the Lampasas Mission with a canned food drive.

For the past 12 years, the Lampasas FFA and advisors have worked with the local Lampasas Dispatch Record in putting together an eight page "Salute to the FFA" National FFA week edition, reaching more than 15,000 online and print subscribers.

This year’s theme is Grow, and it celebrates more than 80 years of FFA traditions while eagerly anticipating the organization’s future. FFA members are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Through agricultural education and hands-on learning, they are preparing for the more than 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry.
