Delegates Determine the Outcome of Full Affiliation Vote at the 98th National FFA Convention

AUSTIN, TEXAS – The 98th National FFA Convention & Expo brought together 475 delegates to share ideas and perspectives that will ensure the continued progress of the organization from October 29–November 1, 2025. Texas FFA was well represented by 67 delegates.
For many years, the National FFA Organization has used a student dues structure. After extensive discussion, the organization’s proposal to move to 100% membership, also known as full affiliation, did not pass during Business Session A.
The Texas FFA Association has long discussed the challenges this model would create for the state. While the association fully supports expanding opportunities for as many young members as possible, implementing this proposed model without corresponding funding would present significant obstacles for chapters across Texas. As previously noted, chapter affiliation remains an available option, but chapters will now also retain the ability to operate under the traditional dues model.
Ultimately, the failure of the proposed amendment serves the best interests of Texas FFA, as it preserves the organization’s ability to choose between affiliation and the traditional dues model.
The association is extremely proud of the thoughtful approach its leadership took in thoroughly examining every aspect of the proposal over the last three years. During the 98th Annual National Convention business session, the Texas delegation moved to remove this item from the consent agenda and worked collaboratively with delegates from other states to express concerns surrounding full affiliation. The association commends its members for their ability to respectfully discuss the challenges while also recognizing the benefits of maintaining affiliation as an option for all.
There are many great things about the National FFA Organization, and Texas FFA is proud to continue contributing to its opportunities, growth, and strength. That commitment will not stop here.
