Tuesday, November 1, 2011 | Author: Texas FFA

The town of Blanket, population 396 people, may be very little in size, but they have a lot of school spirit! October 3, 2011 marked Blanket FFA chapter’s 75th year in existence. To celebrate, the FFA chapter and entire town held a birthday party to remember.

To kick the day off, students and members of the community were invited to the school cafeteria for birthday cake and to recognize previous agricultural science teachers’ service to their FFA chapter.

Afterward, people and floats paraded through town. Blanket FFA won a first place plaque for having the best float.

The kid carnival took place one block off of main street. The carnival featured a bounce house, dunking booth, face painting and a stick horse race. In order to participate in carnival activities, school-aged kids worked for the past six weeks to earn “Blanket Bucks” which were awarded for each good deed or good grade.

The day ended with a family-oriented dance.

Other events included:
A city-wide garage sale
Antique car and tractor show
Brisket and beans cook off
Breakfast at the local Methodist church
All youth football games at the football field
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation rodeo play day at the FFA arena
Vendors set up and down main street
