The 21st Annual Texas FFA Rodeo kicked off the 97th Annual Texas FFA State Convention with two days of thrilling competition at the iconic Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth.
“It’s a very neat experience to rope in a place where hundreds of world champions have ridden and roped,” said tie-down roper and Ballenger FFA member Dylan Page.
FFA members from across Texas competed in events including team roping, goat tying, barrel racing, and tie-down roping, showcasing their talent and passion for the sport.
“It’s surreal for me to compete here,” said barrel racer and Ballinger FFA member Kirklynn Page.
Built in 1908, the Cowtown Coliseum is steeped in history, having hosted more than 200,000 competitors over the years. From rodeo legends to American icons like Elvis Presley and President Theodore Roosevelt, the venue continues to be a symbol of Western heritage.
“I watched my sister ride there for the first time, and I told my mom, ‘I want to be here one day,’” said Brydee Elliott, breakaway roper and Ballinger FFA member. “Then when I was riding there, I was like, ‘I’m living my childhood dreams.’”
For many members, the experience is more than just competition, it’s about representing their communities on a historic stage.
“It means a lot to me to compete here because I’m getting more representation for my chapter,” Elliott added.
