Fort Worth is home to some of Texas’s most iconic traditions, and now the 97th Annual Texas State Convention.
The 2024-2025 Texas FFA state officer team kicked off the event during the first general session emphasizing the importance of tradition and legacy.

“Every decision that we make, every skill we learn and every connection we build adds to the legacy we're creating,” Texas FFA President Hunter Lawson said. “Not for ourselves but for the future generations who will follow in our footsteps.”
During the session, members welcomed new chapters, received chapter awards, as well as scholarships. Attendees also heard remarks from Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, a former Texas FFA state officer.

“There is no youth organization in this state or in this country or perhaps even in the world that does more to develop leaders, to inspire courage, to teach people to be tough, to teach us to answer our calling so that anything is possible, said Secretary Rollins.”
Two state officers, Area I Vice President Addie Carlson and Area III Vice President Augustus Mushinski, delivered their retiring addresses.

To close the session, keynote speaker J.B. Mauney, a retired professional bull rider, shared stories from his career and offered advice to the thousands of members in attendance.
