Assistant Commissioner Dan Hunter was honored with the Texas FFA Passion for Agriculture award Thursday morning in recognition of his unwavering dedication to the FFA and the agriculture industry.
The award was presented during the fourth general session of the 97th Annual Texas FFA Convention, where Hunter, Assistant Commissioner for Communications and Trade and Business Development for the Texas Department of Agriculture, delivered remarks.
“Do all you can, while you can, and do all you can for those who can’t,” Hunter said.
The Assistant Commissioner’s support of rural communities and lifelong advocacy for agriculture played a significant role in his selection for the award.
“Impact moments - that’s what you need to do everyday,” Hunter said. “Have an impact on someone.”
Hunter is the third recipient of the prestigious award, following in the footsteps of Red Steagall and Dr. Temple Grandin.
“I look around and I go, ‘How did I get here,’” Hunter said. “The answer’s always the same. It’s that blue and gold jacket. It’s the FFA.”
